Kaitlyn Marino is graduate student in the Neuroscience Training Program (NTP) studying the intersection between the respiratory system and Alzheimer’s disease (AD) progression. Kaitlyn implements confocal and multiphoton imaging techniques to explore spatial and morphological changes in astrocytes and microglia in the aging mouse brain. In collaboration with the Watters Laboratory, Kaitlyn is looking at alterations of glia to determine potential interactions between AD and obstructive sleep apnea.

Kaitlyn received her B.S. in Biology and Psychology from Washington College in Chestertown, MD. She previously worked with a zebrafish model of ischemia in the lab of Dr. James Windelborn. Outside of lab, you will find Kaitlyn watching local sports, baking, and traveling to see friends on the East Coast.
