Kendra Hanslik is a graduate student in the Neuroscience Training Program (NTP) who is studying the innate immune response in Alzheimer’s Disease (AD). More specifically, her current research is observing how AD pathology is affected by increasing butyrate levels in AD mouse models. Prior to her acceptance into UW-Madison’s NTP graduate program, she received her B.S. from the University of Texas at San Antonio and went on to become a research assistant for Dr. Jennifer Morgan at the Marine Biological Laboratory where her studies contributed to the field of tissue regeneration. In addition to her research, Kendra serves as an NTP Outreach Committee Chair, sharing neuroscience in the Madison community and with kids ranging from the K-12 grades. In her leisure time, she enjoys cooking, hiking, and spending quality time with her family.
